Koorachundu - UAE Five Candles Community's Onam Celebration and Cultural Conference Held in Sharjah

Koorachundu:   The 2025 Onam Celebration and Cultural Conference of the Five Candles Koorachundu UAE Community was inaugurated at the Sharjah Lavender Hotel yesterday, 14/09/2025, with the inauguration ceremony of the Onam celebrations by Father Anoop Paulos, Assistant Vicar of Jebel Ali Mosque, Dubai.

      Many people from Koorachuundu from various Emirates in the U. A. E. participated in the program as family and friends. The celebrations, which began at 10 am with the accompaniment of the Singari Mela, continued till night. The programs were enhanced by artistic and sports performances led by children and adults.

    Along with this, the Lavalder hoteliers prepared a delicious Onam meal. Along with the Malayalam meal, foreigners also had Onam meal on banana leaves. It was a sumptuous meal with avial, sambar, rasa, and two kinds of payasam. After the Onam meal, various cultural programs and Onam games were held. Special Onam games were prepared for everyone from small children to adults. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the folk songs and various types of cultural programs.

After distributing prizes to the winners of the cultural programs, there was a photo session with cheers.

Everyone, regardless of age, danced to the sound of Onam in the Kottikalasat. This gathering, which evoked nostalgia, allowed for new friendships to be established and a message of unity to be conveyed.

Thus, many people's eyes filled with tears as they said goodbye by dancing, singing, sharing friendships, shaking hands, and hugging. The Malayalis parted ways with memories sweeter than the jaggery payasam served for the meal, with the hope of meeting again in the next month of Chingam.
